Karel Sabbe Smashes Appalachian Trail FKT!
from ultimatedirection.com
Ultimate Direction Ambassador Karel Sabbe has set a new supported fastest known time (FKT) on the Appalachian Trail, breaking Scott Jurek and Karl Meltzer’s by 5 and 4 days, respectively. After sleeping about 100 miles from the finish on the night of August 26, 2018 Karel ran all day on the 27th and through the night to complete his AT FKT about 2pm on August 28th in 41 days, 7 hours 39 minutes.
In homage to his idol, Karel wore the Jurek North Vest during this historic run. He also used UD Fastpacks and the Signature Series 4.0 Adventure, Mountain and Ultra Vests.
Karel now holds the FKT for the Pacific Crest Trail and the Appalachian Trail simultaneously. The women’s self-supported PCT and AT simultaneous record belongs to another UD ambassador, Heather “Anish” Anderson.

Stringbean set the FKT of 45 days, 12 hours and 15 minutes on the Appalachian Trail in 2017.
Congratulations, Karel!
